You`ve been practicing your routine FOREVER,and you`ve finally nailed it!You`ve been called to the front of the class to demonstrate your talent,and you`re just know you can ace it.So what happens when you mess up on the steps?Pretend nothing happened?Turn the wrong step into something knew?Or just go to the corner shame ridden while people make fun of you?

A*lex Starr walked into dance class with her best friend, Charli White at her side. A*lex leaned over to whisper to Charli, "I know we can get the part of Clara and Marie! I just know it!" Charli nodded encouragingly. "But, I get to be Marie, right? I mean, Clara is the lead role, I could never over-power you!" A*lex smiled. "Now that's the kind of thinking I inspire!" She did a pirouette on the spot. "OK, ladies. Please quiet down. You all know that the auditions for to two main roles, Clara and Marie, will be today. Freshen up, go over your routine a few times, and get ready for the Nutcracker!" Their dance instructer, Amelia, sashayed aside to let the first pair go, of course, it was Charli and A*lex. A*lex begun correctly, front, back, jump, spin, kick, back, and pirouette. Charli repeated the steps, then let A*lex do the next part. Punch, kick, punch, kick, kick... Wait! It was supposed to be punch, kick, punch, pirouette. Charli still repeated, and soon A*lex was back into the swing of things again.

“Girls, girls, quiet down please!” Called the dance instructer, Marissa. All of the girls in the class were talking loudly to each other. Marissa had just announced that the girl who preformed the routine best today would get to play the part of Clara in the Nutcracker.
Haylie smiled. She had this routine in the bag. She had been practicing all week. “You’re up first Haylie.” Marissa said to her. Haylie nodded and took first position. The music started and Haylie danced. Pirouette, Leap, Scale, and Ring. Haylie went over the steps in her mind as she danced them to perfection. Kick front, kick back… - Oh, no. – Haylie thought. She was supposed to do a Front kick, Side Leap… not a back kick! But Haylie didn’t stop to figure out what she should do to get back on track. She did a Cat Leap to a Sashay. Then she did a Chaîné turn to an attitude leap. Then a sissonne arabesque. She then knelt down and finished her dance with the ending pose. She stood up and smiled. “What was that?” Marissa asked. “Well I though these moves are a bit more Clara-ish.” Haylie responded, her smile never faltering. Marissa turned to look at the class. “Well… I do agree. Girls lets all practice Haylie’s dance. Then the competition will continue!” |

Alexis nailed her ballet piece but messed up on the last step. Alexis finshed the piece and then added more steps to make up for her mistake. Then eveyone clapped. Alexis stood still with her jaw opened, Her best friend Serena said "You did great! That last step looked like you messed up but then you did that leap! Whoa girl!"
